Hell is Healthy.
[Mat 25:46 NASB95] 46 “These will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”
Did Jesus talk about hell more than he spoke about heaven? Some people say yes. Some people say no. There is no consensus about the ratio. However, Jesus talked about hell often.
Why would Jesus talk about hell? It is healthy. Understanding the reality of hell and the eternal nature of hell produces healthy Christians. It produces Christians that know how to live righteously. It produces Christians who stay close to Christ. It motivates Christians to surrender their lives to spreading the Gospel so people do not spend eternity in hell.
The topic of hell is not comfortable to hear or talk about. Some churches refuse to discuss it. Some preachers say preaching on hell unnecessarily scares people. Others have said that when preachers preach on hell, it is to manipulate people.
Avoiding the topic of hell produces unhealthy Christians.
This Sunday, we are going to preach on the topic of hell. Pray for the Holy Spirit to help us develop a healthy, appropriate understanding of hell. May the Holy Spirit continue to lay this foundation to help ENC reach this region like never before.
