You Need To Look Again

Unlock Spiritual Vision: See God’s Unseen Power Around You!

[2Ki 6:15-17 NASB95] 15 Now when the attendant of the man of God had risen early and gone out, behold, an army with horses and chariots was circling the city. And his servant said to him, “Alas, my master! What shall we do?” 16 So he answered, “Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” 17 Then Elisha prayed and said, “O LORD, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.” And the LORD opened the servant’s eyes and he saw; and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.

In 2 Kings 6:15-17, we find a powerful narrative that resonates deeply. When Elisha’s servant wakes up and sees the city surrounded by an enemy army, he panics. In his fear, he cries out to Elisha, “Oh no, my lord! What shall we do?” Elisha, calm and confident in the Lord, responds with profound words: “Don’t be afraid. Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” Then, Elisha prays, asking God to open his servant’s eyes. The servant’s eyes are opened, revealing a mountain full of horses and chariots of fire.

This passage emphasizes the truth that there are spiritual realities beyond what is visible to the natural eye. Just as Elisha’s servant was blind to the spiritual armies surrounding them, many Christians today are unaware of the spiritual forces at work around them. We need spiritual discernment. We need to seek to live a Spirit-filled life that is sensitive to the unseen realm of God’s presence and activity.

The chariots of fire that surrounded Elisha were a manifestation of God’s supernatural protection and power. God’s Holy Spirit works mightily on behalf of His people. In moments of fear and uncertainty, we are reminded, like Elisha’s servant, to have our spiritual eyes opened through prayer and faith.

Elisha’s prayer, “Open his eyes, Lord, so that he may see,” is a call for seeking divine revelation. This passage encourages us to move beyond fear and anxiety into a place of faith, trusting in the ever-present power of God. When we see with spiritual eyes, we are reassured that “greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world” (1 John 4:4). We are never alone; God’s heavenly armies are always with us.

This Sunday, we are presenting part 12 of the Times Two sermon series. Come ready to experience God in a powerful way. May the Holy Spirit, help us to see with His eyes.
