Word of Faith has an error.

Word of Faith has an error.

Don’t quit praying and looking for your miracle.

[1Ki 18:43 NASB95] 43 He said to his servant, “Go up now, look toward the sea.” So he went up and looked and said, “There is nothing.” And he said, “Go back” seven times.

Here is where I part company from the Word of Faith message.

The Word of Faith message is one of the most potent systematic theologies in Christianity. It has changed my life. Applying the principles of the Word of Faith has helped and continues to help my family and me to experience great miracles.

One principle that is taught is wrong. Not long ago, I heard an excellent Word of Faith minister preach. He is a great man and a tremendous Bible teacher. However, he taught that if a person continues to pray about an issue after they have already prayed, they do not believe that God has heard them the first time. The subsequent prayers would be considered full of doubt and unbelief. He is not the only one who teaches this erroneous principle. I have heard Kenneth Hagin, whom I greatly respect and admire, teach the same thing.

Elijah and James are outside the Word of Faith camp.

James uses Elijah’s prayer life as an example of how faith-filled Christians should pray. (James 5:17-18) Elijah made a declaration of faith. Then he prayed. He asked his servant to look for the answer: rain. The servant came back with the report that there was no rain. Elijah told him to look again. This happened a total of seven times.

Was Elijah in doubt? Is James wrong to use this as an example of Bible faith?

No. No.

The message we get from Elijah’s prayer life is simple. Pray and look. Pray and look. Keep praying and keep looking. Don’t stop praying. Don’t stop looking.

This Sunday, we are going to unpack this story. We will see how the prophetic declaration and persistent prayer get potent results. This will be life-changing.

A Summer of Miracles

This summer, we are preaching a sermon series about the miracles of Elijah and his protege’, Elisha. We will see how God works miracles of good and justice—the point is to renew our minds to the fact that God desires to do miracles in our lives. Every Sunday and Wednesday, Dr. John preaches; he will bring one of the miracles God did with these two men to encourage everyone to believe in miracles today.

We are having a summer fishing giveaway!

There will be fellowship, food, and faith-building.
Invite a friend, and bring your sons.

Come hungry, leave full!
