ROOTED: Not Shipwrecked
[1Ti 1:19 NASB] 19 keeping faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and suffered shipwreck in regard to their faith.
Keep, Make It Yours
There is a difference between using something and owning something. Renters never take care of things as well as owners. That is the idea here. It is like when the Apostle Paul took ownership of what he preached when he called it, “my Gospel” (2 Timothy 2:8 & Romans 2:16). Obviously, the Gospel is because of Jesus Christ. It was not that he preached his own gospel as a different gospel. I believe he identified with what he preached and lived to such a level that there was an ownership mindset of the faith he preached in Jesus Christ. It was his.
Is this faith, your faith? Is it between God and you? Or, is your faith affected by others?
If it becomes your faith, you will treat it as such. We are going to find out what it looks like when we take ownership of our faith. It is a cooperation with God.
[Phl 2:12-13 NASB] 12 So then, my beloved, just as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your salvation with fear and trembling; 13 for it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure.
No Shipwrecked Faith
Have you ever seen someone hurt themselves? Have you ever hurt yourself? When we neglect our faith and not take some responsibility for developing our faith, we will see destruction. Sometimes we help the enemy defeat us. When neglect our relationship with God, we, not satan, set the stage for “shipwreck”.
God has given us everything we need to stay on course with His plan for our lives.
