“Peace of God” & “God of Peace”
I am not sure of the conditions Paul was in when he wrote these verses. I believe he was in prison, but I have heard that the conditions ranged from being chained to sewer walls to being on house arrest in a palace. Whichever the case, he was trapped and was a prisoner. To me, that makes these verses concerning peace very intriguing.
When we feel trapped or imprisoned, I am not sure we can opine about peace. Usually, we are emotionally in a state opposite of peace. Paul learned how to walk in peace even when everyone else would not be able to walk in peace. He described this as a peace that went beyond understanding. The peace he possessed on the inside was unaffected by the chaos that attacked him from the outside.
He mentions the “peace of God” and then the “God of peace.” He talks about how, through prayer, supplication, and thanksgiving, we can have the peace of God. He also talks about how, as we set our mind on specific subjects, the “God of peace” will be with us.
A Depression FREE December
December is a festive time! Yet for many people, it is a time that lacks peace and sends them into the prison of depression, despair, discouragement, debt, and disease. God is setting us free and opening the doors of the prison of depression, despair, discouragement, debt, and disease. It is time to enjoy a supernatural, “don’t make no sense” type of peace that is strong enough to guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
This Sunday, we are going to unpack the truth of these verses. I am asking you to believe God with me that many people will be able to break free from the anxiety that is gripping their hearts by the power of the Holy Spirit. God has peace for us because He is peace. This is depression FREE December!
We love you. We are looking forward to seeing you at Evangel North Church Sunday 9 AM & 11 AM, and Wednesday at 7 PM.
