CHRISTMAS JAIL MINISTRY
On Saturday, December 23rd we will have all the volunteers in the Sallyport by 2:15; so, we can begin by 2:30 and be finished by 4:30. The various Pastors and representatives of the volunteer groups will take turns offering a brief Christmas message, two songs will be sung and the bags of Christmas gifts will be distributed. This should last around 20 minutes per section. Each of three teams will go to 4 sections and, as they finish, will join the other groups in Pod 3 and Booking on their way out.
Each church can bring as many volunteers as they wish; and, contributing churches are encouraged to include information about their faith and their specific church. Volunteers must be 18 yrs old and have a picture ID (and should not be related to or associated with inmates they anticipate ministering to). We anticipate having a population of 550 Residents.
It is my anticipation that we will assemble all the bags at Evangel North Church, 1732 Thames, Clarksville IN on Friday, December 22nd. More details to come on that.
Items that are needed would include (all in groups of 550 if possible): medium/large brown bags, white tube socks, candy, gum, toiletries, snack foods, etc. NOTHING WITH ALCOHOL (IE MOUTHWASH). I’m attaching a list of what items cost the residents at the commissary. Lets see how large a blessing we can give the residents!
Each church, ministry, etc., is encouraged to include information about their church and/or ministry. The only thing we ask is the insert focus on your church and what you believe will bless the residents. Please refrain from anything that is derogatory to any other church, denomination, etc. The world does enough of that already against all of us.Let’s bless the resident with a demonstration of Christian Fellowship & Unity!
