In Judges 6, God is taking Gideon through a process of overcoming cowardice and becoming a conqueror. We have been exploring how God helped Gideon to change his view of himself and alter his view God.
1. Gideon is learning to trust God to take care of him (meat offering), to walk in line with the Word of God (unleavened bread), and to give himself completely to the mission of God for him (drink offering).
2. Gideon begins to see God as the God of Peace or Shalom.
3. Gideon then tears down the altars of his father. He had to get anything out of his life that was hindering him from becoming what God wanted for him. For us this includes hurts, wrong attitudes, beliefs about God, family curses, and such.
4. He builds an altar to God. He establishes his own connection with God. This is were we build things in our lives that keep us connected with God. We do this by establishing consistency in our many areas of our lives including prayer, daily Bible reading, and faithfulness to church attendance.
5. There were results that happened to Gideon. A negative result was that he was persecuted. We need to prepare for the fact that not everyone wants us to succeed. This was offset by two (2) positive results. First, he was clothed with the Holy Spirit (v34). When we give ourselves over to God, expect to be able to flow with the Holy Spirit. Secondly, he received reassurance. Gideon already knew what God wanted when he presented the fleece request. He wanted reassurance. God obliged. God will be there to reassure you and strengthen you as you step out to do what He has called you to do.

In Judges 7, there is a shift that takes place. Gideon has now summoned an army of 32 thousand. Wow. Things are looking good, right?

Well, God is still teaching Gideon. God wants Gideon to trust Him, not his army. God winnows this army of 32,000 to just 300. Within this winnowing process we learn how God teaches us to trust Him.

This Sunday, we are are going to explore this story further. It will help us see how God deals with us. He wants us to walk in the victory He has planned for us.

God is empowering you to reach a region with the Gospel of Jesus Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit and the love of God.

We love you. Looking forward to seeing you at Evangel North Church Sunday 9AM & 11AM and Wednesday 7PM.

B-Groups Leader meeting Wednesday, AUGUST 2, 6:30PM to 6:50PM in Pastor John Carmichael’s office.

Are you ready to grow in your relationship with God? Are you ready to gain knowledge of His Word? Are you ready to make meaningful connections with people? Are you ready to pour what God has taught you into someone else?

This is a verse is key to how the church went from being an obscure little group to a world-wide movement.

There were three (3) dynamics. There were public meetings. There were house to house meetings. And they were faithful to both.

This same should be true for us. We have be faithful to the public gathering of the church. Then there needs to be a smaller gathering of, say, twelve or less. Our attitude should not be It’s not one or the other, but its both!

Actually, Christians and churches become healthy when there is a focus on both of the types of gatherings. Dynamics happen in one that do not happen in the other.

Enter B-Groups…

This past Sunday we reintroduced B-Groups. The response has been amazing. There is a real hunger for these groups.

There are Three (3) types of B-Groups:
1. She-Groups – women only
2. He-Groups – men only
3. We-Groups – married couples only

These meet at various times in various places.

To make this work we need leaders. There is a sign-up sheet in the foyer. If you are interested in becoming a leader sign up. We will have a meeting to give training, set guidelines and answer questions.

This will help our church to go to another level as we reach our region by the empowerment of the Spirit and the love of God!
